My paintings produced between 2020 -2026 seek to explore balance & light through the sensuality of form, colour and space. I describe these works as 'Chromatic Spatial Abstractions' which reference both Modernist geometric abstraction and the spatial atmosphere of 'chromatic value as light'.
Perceptions of colour and space are explored through colour contrast, light versus dark and blended murmurs of oil paint. These carefully applied veils of paint are seen in contrast to clean shapes ,creating a suspension between form, ground and distant horizons
The colour conversation within these works are informed by; signatures observed within nature, such as atmospheric light, colour theory and its sensory interaction. My work draws upon historical & modern influences, from the otherworldly romantic sublime, to the pigment saturation of the colour field painters, Suprematism, orphism and scientific inquiries into the perceptions of colour & light
